We are remodeling a house in Seattle (very wet winters) that has a 3:12 roof. I know this is the minimum for most shingle applications, and it seems that over the years we've had trouble developing soft spots in our roof. Will a metal shingle roof perform better than a composite roof on the same slope under the same conditions?

Based upon my experience, the active interlock which occurs between most metal roofing panels is far better than the overlap which exists between asphalt shingles. That said, most metal shingles also carry a minimum 3:12 pitch.
