Does metal type roofs have ridge vents like shingle roofs? The few metal roofs around me don't look like they do. I was really wanting a ridge type vent you know? I'm thinking about going with the long panels, like on the old barns of long ago.

A combination of soffit and ridge vent is a great way to go. Most quality metal roofs will either come with a matching ridge vent as an option or at, the very least, have instructions on how to adapt a commercially available ridge vent for use with the metal roof.
