I have spoken with a roofer who has concerns about heat buildup in my attic with a metal roof. We currently have a cedar roof on lathe - no decking. I would like to avoid decking for weight reasons. Our house was built in 1910 and has never been decked. We have added considerable weight by finishing out the attic into bedroom space. We have about eight foot of attic above the finished space and a three to four foot knee wall - the roof line creates the walls from 3-4 foot to the ceiling which is at 12 feet. I thought metal would be a great look for our home and another roofer had suggested that it might improve our energy efficiency over the cedar. I'm confused!
