I've heard metal roofing is more susceptible to hail damage if installed over the old asphalt shingle roof. But I've also heard that helps insulate better. Should it or should it not be installed over old roofing?
Thanks, and God Bless.

I have been involved in countless installations over old shingles and, hail or not, I have never encountered a job where anything down the road indicated to me that maybe it would have been better to remove the old shingles.
Still, though, there are various factors including the profile and design of the new roof.
When in question, always contact the roofing manufacturer for their opinion.
