Using industry accepted clips, Solar PV can be attached to metal standing seam roofs inexpensively. In fact, installing Solar PV to standing seam metal roofs can reduce the installation costs of Solar PV by 50%. Installation costs are the second largest cost associated with Solar PV. Currently, in the State of California, the state provides both a 50% buydown and a 15% residential (and commercial) tax credit. Given electricity rates in SCE and PG&E's territories, solar PV is cost effective for standing seam metal roof users.
