I have an historical home build in 1915. The roof over the kitchen is a peaked, 4-sided soldered metal roof. It is quite rusty and I would like to preserve it if possible. There is also a metal rain gutter running around all four sides that is also soldered. Is it possible to clean the rust and clear-coat, or paint the roof to preserve it? If so, what products should I use?
Thank you.

This could be a challenge but there are systems and coatings for this. Google "Metal roof restoration" and you will find some options. I do not have any personal experience with them though. Sorry.

It is helpful to at least have a direction for my quest.
Thank you
