Having a metal roof installed over comp shingles on our log home. We plan on living here at least 10 yrs, standing seam is a lot more expensive than exposed fastners, is the standing seam that much better than exposed fastner, is there a problem with installing an exposed fastner roof? Roof being installed by a professional roof who is purported to be best in area by other people. Thanks Lyn Fish

Lynn, This is a tough question to answer because I believe in all types of metal roofing. However, one of the greatest things about metal roofing is the wide variety of product types and styles. Homeowners can get the benefits of metal roofing to fit just about any architectural style or budget. Quality standing seam systems are designed for expansion and contraction of the metal withour fastener fatigue or fastener hole "wallowing-out". Todd Miller
