Question: My internet research indicates that it is ok to install metal over shingles, but my question is can you install shingles over metal? I find limited answers like the following: But can you install shingles over the top of metal roofing? "It’s not a good idea to try and install shingles over metal roof panels. While it’s perfectly fine to install corrugated metal roofing over asphalt shingles, it wouldn’t be a good idea to install shingles over corrugated metal: or this answer- "Installing shingles over metal roofing is not a thing that you should even try to do. However, you can install metal roofing over the asphalt shingles but vice-versa is not recommended." So, I asked different questions, one of which went like this- " Is it Florida code compliant to install a shingle roof over a metal roof and didn't save the answer but I remember it being an individual response which stated something like this, " the simple answer is NO, however, the local building department offices will not publish it." Sorry for babbling, but this simple question appears to have some mysterious, not available, answer at this time. I would appreciate any help you have available.
