Asphalt shingles over aluminum insulated roof panels

Return to Installation

Return to Forum

I had a new sunroom installed with insulated roof panels. The plans called for 1/2” osb glued to the panels then ice and water shield, then asphalt shingles. The contractor nailed the the shingles to the roof panels and said that was industry standard. My question is will the roofing nail stay attached to the roof panels, is there any holding power directly into the Aluminum.

Especially with a straight shank roofing nail, there will not be a lot of holding power there.
