TOPIC: I Have An Existing Metal Roof and Have A Question

Mesh Under Ridge Vent

Return to I Have An Existing Metal Roof and Have A Question

I have a metal shed that I'm converting to a weekend getaway. Simple 12x16 cabin with cathedral ceiling.
It has a ridge vent with mesh screen, and a vent on each gable, also with screens.
I also have radiant barrier that my shed builder installed between rafters in ceiling.
I have cocoons and debris from trees that I can see up inside the ridge vent, and some of the debris is falling through into the shed.
Is there something I can install over this, that will still allow for some air flow?
I have a window AC unit that I'm ready to use in there, but don't want all my air to go out the vents.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks. Sounds like a neat project. This does not seem to be a metal roof question. (?) However, I am happy to help if I can.

So, the opening to the ridge vent is visible from inside what will be the living space, or is there an attic from which it is visible?

Normally, there will be some sort of attic or enclosed roof assembly for the ridge vent air flow and it will be fed from air drawn up through the soffit overhangs.

It sounds like yours is drawing air from the living space, in which case some re-construction is probably necessary.
