Compare Standing Seam with Metal Shingles

Return to Product Selection

Return to Forum

I am trying to find out general pricing comparisons and whether one of these 2 options is better. My house is single story with a relatively low pitch roof currently with asphalt shingles. So it seems to me that metal shingles would be closest to what I have now. Do they come in panels, and if not, is installation more expensive?

There are a number of MRA manufacturer members who produce various modular metal shingles. Many of them are fully interlocking panels with hidden fasteners. Typically, the minimum required roof pitch is 3:12 for these products. A quality metal roof will be higher cost than standard shingles. In my experience, many metal roof customers intend to remain in their homes for at least 10 years.
