TOPIC: I Have An Existing Metal Roof and Have A Question

Ridge Vent

Return to I Have An Existing Metal Roof and Have A Question

I have a question on my ridge vent. I had a metal roof installed 11/2019. We like it a lot. Our home has a roof rail rafter system. My ridge vent is only vented on one side of rail. The rail board is 1" thick. It was not opened evenly when vent was installed. Is there a way to open the other side of the rail from the attic to create a more even airflow? I was told not to cut an opening in the top of the rail as it could affect structural integrity. What about drilling holes through rail? Also, I do not know the width of vent covering, so I am not sure how far to cut back sheeting roof board before exposing roof to the elements. Any suggestions?
Thanks
