The metal roof on my pole barn gets frost on the inside during cold weather. When the sun hits the roof, it melts and drips on everything inside. Wondering what I can do to remedy this?
This is something that can happen inside structures where there is no insulation, ventilation, or vapor barrier. Primarily we see this in barns. Warm moist air originating inside the structure is condensing on the back side of the cold roof at night and even freezing. You can try to increase air movement / exchange inside the barn and also try to reduce moisture levels.
There are products like DripStop that can help control this but they pretty much need to be attached to the back side of the metal roof when it is installed.
One option now would be to spray the under side of the roof with closed cell urethane foam.
