Just had a roof installed and am worried about what looks like some shoddy work. I have never seen a gable rake trim done like this ( looks fragile ) and the peak is open and I worry about water ingress and the fascia board rotting. Also lots of inconsistencies, some trim folded and closed, other pieces left open. Caulk used where it looks like the metal was torn or cut raggedly. The top cap or / ridge vent is distorted against the ribs of the roof. I will post as many pics as I can.
few more pics
missed this one!
Have you tried contacting the manufacturer of the roofing to see if they can get involved to help determine what needs to be done?
Hi , thanks for the response! It is a small local manufacturer that supplied the panels for the roofing contractor. I guess what I am looking for is feedback on if this sort of work is normal and within the general range of acceptability. As a layperson it is tough to know. I added a couple more pics that gave a better look at the gable peak, but they have not been approved yet.
I see some cosmetic concerns. I see some things that look fine, and I see some areas of possible technical concern. It really would require a site inspection to determine exactly what's been done and what, if anything here, is a functional concern. It seems to me that a meeting between the manufacturer, the contractor, and you would be helpful.
Todd, Thanks! I agree, the cuts down near the gutters are certainly cosmetic, I am more concerned about the gap at the peak of the rake trim. I am sure water will get in, probably not much, but some. Cosmetically it is also what you see when you first roll up to the house, the gable peak, but that is more annoying than anything.
I will try and make a meeting happen, but it is a pretty small group / community and I worry they will just be supportive of the contractor regardless.
