Can I install 28g galvinized metal roofing on strapping? It's a gambrel roof with a minimum 3/12 pitch. If so, how close does the strapping have to be?

Yes, there are steel roofing profiles in 28 gauge that can be installed in this matter. However, exact fastening methods including spacing of the lathe or purlin are dictated not only by metal thickness but also by panel profile. The fastening and spacing can affect the walkability and uplift resistance of the product being installed. Therefore, once you choose a product, contact the manufacturer for details on fastening, spacing, etc. Todd Miller
