New Metal Roof

Hey guys, I had a contractor recently come out and install a new metal roof on my home. The old roof was leaking. Well on the contract it states "Place felt where needed". Well, he did not place any felt and when I asked why he said: "There was not any on there before".

I was not home during the install due to work so i don't know what was on there before.

He did manage to fix my initial leak but managed to create a new one. Did i get ripped off with this felt paper not being installed? And is the roof leaking into my attic because there is no felt paper repeling the water that is somehow getting under the metal?

Thank you in advance for all of your help.

So, it sounds like the old shingles were removed and the metal was installed directly over bare plywood, or something similar?

Correct. There was metal on it originally but it was very old and was put on back in the 60’s

My advice, as well as the advice of most manufacturers ... and also required by building codes ... is underlayment between the decking and the metal roof panels.
