SB-1800 Snow Jack Sealant Blistering Metal Roof Paint - RUST!

Return to I Have An Existing Metal Roof and Have A Question

Return to Forum

I have a prosnap metal roof purchased from Menard's in 2011. I installed it on my garage and installed snow jacks purchased from http://www.glaciersnowguard.com/ with the recommended SB-1800 sealant and screws. Today I was up there installing Chrismas lights and was dismayed to see the paint blistering around many of the snow jacks and the roof rusting under the blistering. The blistering is exactly following the line of the edge of the SB-1800. See attached photo.

I have never seen anything like that. There was no scribing done on the metal, or pencil marks, to help locate the snow guards, was there? I'd suggest contacting Menards, Todd Miller

What sort of glue/adhesive was used to affix the snow retention in this case? Eric Novotny

Is the picture of the down side of the snowguard? if it is the top side you may have a ponding water problem. Dick Bus
