Roof Panel Installation - Prevailing Winds

Return to Installation

Return to Forum

Hi, I am getting ready to install the roof panels on my house and while reading the PBR installation instructions provided by the manufacturer, they state that I should install the metal panels "against the prevailing winds". Can someone clarify what that means exactly, "against the prevailing winds"? I think that it means start at the end where the sheets are labeled 1, 2, 3 in the attached image from their instructions manual (which is the end that does NOT get the prevailing winds), but really wanted to clarify as to not make any mistakes during installation. Thank in advance!

I believe what they mean is so that the open edge of the vertical laps between the panels does not face into the wind. They don't want rushing wind to get between the panels at the overlap. Todd Miller
