Our new metal roofing

Alan Lewis
After hail damage our architectural shingle roof was totaled. We wanted to upgrade to standing seam metal on a dormer and shed roofs over the porches in front and back (shingles 12 pitch, metal 4 pitch). We are dealing with one contractor who subbed out the metal part to "his metal guy". The results I have on the metal look absolutely terrible to me. I should have known something was wrong when it took 3 people 5 days to do just this little bit of metal - like they had no idea what they were doing. I can't believe the trim and transition is suppose to looke this way, the metal was cut off uneven in the dormer valley, the metal sheets were cut off with no overhang gust causing a leak behind the gutters (only on the metal roofing). Water come straight off the metal roof and into the flower bed without going into the gutter at all. I am meeting with the contractor tomorrow and it looks to me like a complete redo by some other metal roof contractor. I can't live with this mess. I have paid him what the insurance initially paid and don't feel I should pay any more until this is corrected. Can someone let me know if I am unreasonable? Surely the wrong trim was used or installed incorrectly. Also, the trim on the sides is spliced because he ordered 12' pieces and only got 10'. He said the 12' was special order and to take it up with the contractor.. What can be done about this? We are 3 weeks into this job. Looks like I can only upload one picture.

Aesthetically, the roof shown in the photo is unacceptable. It also looks like it could be prone to leaks.

I am sorry you are dealing with this. This does not look like the work of anyone that could self identify as professional on multiple levels. You need to refuse that work and tell your primary that you will not be signing off on that. He can get a new contractor out there ASAP to get that done.
