I'm very curious to know what kind of metal is used in the construction of metal roofs? Just what is its composition?I have to think that it can't be just mere aluminum because this metal would become severely pitted over time. Is "galvalume" used -- a specially treated galvinized steel that is used, for example, in the construction of quality carports, metal buildings, etc.?
Thanks,

Numerous types of metal are used, particularly when additional metallic or protective coatings are used on top of the metal for additional corrosion protection. The metals used include galvanized steel, galvalume, aluminum, copper, stainless steel, and zinc.
