I live close to beach and salt has caused rust at bottom of roof on overhang. Eaten out in some areas. How can I stop rusting? Can this be repaired? Should the roof be coated with something? Roof is 13 yrs old

If you can strip the metal at the cut edge and treat it effectively with a rust inhibitor and protectant, you might slow down the wearing process. That all being said, it will still rust long term. You roof should have probably been spec'ed as aluminum for just this reason or at least properly installed and edge primed where cut and exposed. Eric Novotny
