I have never heard of that. Solar is installed on metal roofs all the time. In fact, the preferred method of installing solar is to standing seam. Check with other contractors in your area. Dick Bus

That is fine as well. They make special clips to work in those situations as well but they are a bit more labor intensive. Eric Novotny

I know there is a guy up in Nor Cal that has the Aussie J bracket, it is designed for stone coated steel on battens. Google aussie j bracket it will take you to the site. Personally, I would probably just get them fabricated locally...I'd rather see a bit more than two screws holding them down. If the fast jack mounts require a lag then I would think a lag the J bracket through the 2x2, 1x4, old roof (if present), existing sheathing then finally into the rafter would be more appropriate. Using a system like this will replace the current, flashing each one like a plumbing penetration, & what I believe to be the most widely used flashing method. Most solar companies do not know metal roofing well enough to do these types of installs, you need to locate a roofer that specializes in metal roofing. These folks do it everyday and know which solar contractors do deal with stone coated metal roofs.
