How many squares of steel shingles were applied in the US last year for residential roofing? How many squares of steel panels were applied in the US last year for residential roofing?

Kal, Tough to answer that question. I don't know of any historical stats that are particularly accurate. Some of the other posters tend to have better trending information but the bigger and more important trend is the fact that metal is starting to seize back some of the asphalt shares. Eric Novotny

Does anyone know what the numbers are. Someone must have an idea of sales into the residential market. Does anyone know what the energystar credit is this year for steel roofing. Thanks

Metal roofing is around 15 million squares annually in the United States for steep slope application. Less than 10% of that is modular panels. The federal tax credit for reflective metal roofing (Energy Star products) expired at the end of 2013 and is unlikely to be renewed this year. Todd Miller
