We just had a standing-seam metal roof installed to replace our 80+ year old metal roof (using Follansbee Steel's product). We are disappointed with the loud banging apparently caused by wind uplift (occurs with winds of 25mph+). The contractor installed cleats spaced 8-10 inches apart, and insists that laying down plywood beforehand wouldn't have helped. We are at a loss at what to do now to prevent the noise and feel we've mis-spent thousands of dollars. Any suggestions for remedying?

This could be related to an installation problems of some sort. However, I am curious whether inadequate or improper attic ventilation could be playing a role here. Can you please let me know more about the construction of your home including any attic ventilation? Todd Miller
