Will calcium chloride tablets used for ice dams damage the metal shingles or finish?

Gene, Thanks for the question about metal roofing. Calcium Chloride is a salt with mild corrosion potential when in contact with carbon steel. Occasional use should not be a big problem, but regular use certainly could be. Regards, David Stermer

+1 If you plan on using it alot, I would much prefer to see some sort of alternative (heated wire, snow rake, etc.).
