Generally, hot tar would be used on roofs of minimal slope. There are metal roof panels which can be uased on slopes as little as 1/4" in 12". However, these are generally industrial-grade roofs which are field-seamed, meaning the panels are placed on the roof and fastened and then a seamer is rolled down them to fasten them together.
