1x4 material under metal foof

I read your posts about the 1x4's in between shingles an metal roofing is it necessary for the to be treated 1x4's and can 2x4's be used or would they be too mich

They should NOT be treated lumber. Larger battens are okay though keep in mind that raising the level of the roof means that drips edges need to be longer, gutters may need to be raised, etc. Todd Miller
