I am getting ready to install a metal roof over an existing shingle roof 8:12 pitch. I am wondering if the metal drip edge on the shingle roof needs to be removed prior to installation. If yes what is best method? Thank you.

Randy, Thanks for the question. I cannot think of a problem that the drip edge would cause. It is probably worth making sure the metal roof trims will not interfere with the drip edge. The bigger issue is making sure that the sheathing has not suffered degradation and is able to hold the metal panel screws. Best Regards, David Stermer
