TOPIC: Installation

spacing of screw rows over plywood

I work with a crew who often installs metal roofing panels on new roofs. The roofs are sheathed with 1/2" or 5/8" plywood and covered with synthetic roofing felt, then steel panels applied over this. My query is considering that the roofing panels are fully supported, unlike a purlined system, can the the frequency of screw rows be further apart than the usual 2" O.C.? I did some online research on this but found all the recommendation were referencing purlin-supported steel panels.

You would need to check with individual roofing panel manufacturers to be certain but I do not believe that using decking reduces the need for fasteners. Todd Miller
