Polycarbonate snow guards

Guest User
Hi. Are polycarbonate snow guards a good investment? I like the fact that there are clear ones, for aesthetic reasons. I understand these polycarbonate snow guards maybe be fastened in different ways. Are the ones that are glued (no holes in the metal roof necessary) work as well and last as long? The metal roofing I'm considering is standard steel, ribbed...not metal shingles. Thanks. Barb Fillips

They have been used successfully. Make sure the metal is clean and that the adhesive covers the bottom of the snow guard completely. If moisture is able to get under the snow guard they will come off and/or you can get corrosion under them. Check with the snow guard manufacturer for the proper placement and number of snowguards to be used in your local enviornment.
