One year old metal roof has a burnished hole the size of a pencil eraser and it had been plugged with silicone caulk. Found it while in attic recently. Contractor disavows any knowledge or responsibility. What is best fix I can perform myself.

From an aesthetics and practical standpoint, the best do-it-yourself repair probably is with a quality sealant.

I have two nail-sized holes in my metal roof. Which sealant would you recommend here? A silicone caulk? Will it bind to the metal sufficiently and stretch/shrink enough? Thanks, -Luke

I would use a butyl rubber sealant.
