Are the fasteners for metal roofs allowed tlo be exposed. I've seen some with an exposed fastener with a rubber washer. The potential problem in Arizona would be that our intense heat and sunlighttends to deteriorate rubber products quickly. Thank You

Some products have exposed fasteners and some do not.

+1 There are both. For the reasons that you mention, I prefer a concealed system but there are plenty of well engineered and proven exposed systems.
