Grounding a metal roof?

Return to I Have An Existing Metal Roof and Have A Question

I have a metal standing seam roof over the front porch (approx 8X30 ft) on the 1st floor of a 3 story home. There are not vent pipe penetrations, no PV solar arrays, no anteneas, no satelite dishes, no cable lines, no phone lines, no power connections, no electrical connections of any kind in contact with the roof. Does it need to be grounded?

A metal roof does not attrack lightening. The high of the structure in relation to the surronding topograhphy will increase the chance of your upper roof or chimney being hit by lightening. Dick Bus
