We are building a new home in Northern Canada. Our roof is a 12/12 slope. We have 2x4 strapping over our trusses. Do we need to put OSB sheathing over the strapping before installing our metal roof or can the roofing be applied directly over the strapping? If we do not need to sheath the roof, do we still need to run asphalt paper between the strapping and the roofing?

The answers to these questions are all determined by the type of metal roof you choose. Some products require solid deck, some do not. Confer with your roofing manufacturer. Todd Miller
