Hi, I recently acquired a home and it seems like whoever built it cut some corners where the 2 chimneys meet the metal roof. I'm curious as to how to properly flash a chimney like this... Thanks!

Companies like McElroy Metals, Fabral, and Metal Sales have some good installation instructions for metal roofing on their websites. Also, if you email me at [email protected] I will send you my company's manual.

Recently built a 25' by 40' stell shop. Currently installing a wood burning stove. How do I install 8" round chimey. Because of limitations on where the chimney exits the roof, I'm concerned about water leakage??? Thanks

What kind of metal roof do you currently have?

I would love to have a copy, also. I have some skylights that were not properly flashed and I'm not real sure how to make a cricket.

I had a metal roof installed and it has always leaked around the chimney. The original contractor wouldn't come back to fix. I have had a contractor twice come and paid them to fix the leak. It stills leaks. Can flashing be re-done around the chimney or is there something special that needs to be done to fix this leak? Thanks for any help.

Lloyd, would it be possible for you to send me photos of the chimney area? [email protected]

I would think you would want to know what type of metal roof it is. If it is under some sort of weather tight warranty, and then proceed with good, better, best. I would warn the do-it-yourself home owners of the hazards associated with climbing a metal roof as well. When selecting a contractor make sure they are familiar with this and not the "caulk" guy..

This is how all penetrations should be flashed. This apply to copper, stainless, Zinc and also pre painted metal material including corrugated metal....
