Proper gutter installation - water leaking behind btw gutter and facia

Crystal Cooper
I have a 26 gauge standing seam roof. Recently, I had gutters installed 6 inch .027 gauge. Had first rain this week and noticed several places where the water is dripping behind the gutter along the facia. Gutter company is returning next week to make repairs. I believe that they are going to install metal flashing to make the corrections. I am going to question them on their repairs, however would like to have an experts opinion on how the repairs should be made. I paid dearly for my metal roof and do not want them to mess it up. I am unsure about the drip edge size however, there is one installed. Should anything be attached to the drip edge or the roof? I cannot see high enough to determine the exact installation. Is metal flashing a proper correction? If so how should it be installed (under drip edge). Is it necessary for them to have to remove the gutter to place the metal flashing? I want to be sure that these guys do not take the easy/cheap way out. Thanks in advance for your response, Crystal

Chances are the gutters are at least in points below the roof drip edge. Getting the gutters up behind the drip edge either by raising them or adding a flashing is probably the answer. If this does not work, then you need to look for the possibility of a roof leak being a contributing factor to this.

Seen it before. It is very likely that the drip edge is bent improperly, cut too short, or the gutter was hung too low. They should extend the drip edge or raise the gutters. If that doesn't work, there is an issue with the roof.
