How long will an unpainted galvalume roof last?

I spoke with a client who has a vertical panel standing seam galvalume roof that is 9 yrs old. They do not want to paint it at all and asked me how long it will last if not painted? It is a 6/12 pitch that is just showing light surface rust.

There are many variables here including the thickness and quality of the original steel. Another major variable is the weather conditions in your area. Based upon these variables, I'd estimate they can expect another 10 - 20 year life expectancy. Sorry I cannot be more exact. Todd Miller

I would like to use galvanzied metal as a fence. placed between thick 10x10" wood supports. Can you use the metal this way and has anyone ever used this metal as a fence?
