metal roof over rigid insulation'

Guest User
I have a log home with rigid insulation on top of 2x6's with the shingles nailed through the insulation into the 2x6's. The insulation is 2" thick. I 'm told the longest nails with rubber gromets won't work, not long enough if wood strips have to be used What can be done without altering the existing roof. The house does not have soffets or ridge vent.

Screw the purlins through the existing roof into the 2x6 rafters. Once that is done, you can put the metal roof over the purlins.
