When having a metal roof installed on a manufactured home, a double wide that has no attic, is it necessary to have a ridge vent installed, and if so, why?

If the roof deck is sealed (i.e. no humidity coming through the structure that could collect and condense on the roof), you don't need venting. Venting will help with heat transference from the metal roof to the existing roof. Eric Novotny

This brings back one of my favorite quotes from a Metalcon class I sat in on in Tampa Bay one year, "There is no such thing as too much ventilation (that is weatherproof)" Keep this in mind, although whether or not it is necessary depends on a lot of variables. Also if cost is the issue, there are inexpensive ways to get ventilation through your ridge, safely.
