Historical preservation question: metal roofing has been around for a long time, but when were colored metals introduced? When was standing-seam introduced vs corrugated or sheet? We are trying to establish appropriate guidelines out here in hail country. Thanks.

Prepainted metal roofing probably started in the 1960s.
I would say that commercially available clip fastened standing seam started about the same time.
