I am building a house and had planned on the transition between porch roof and main roof being at the front edge of the dormers, but someone told me that wouldn't be good. I can attatch the porch roof lower and can get about four inches between the dormer and the transition if I have to. I am planning to use 5-rib metal sheets. The main roof is 12-12 pitch and the porch is 3 1/2-12 pitch. Thank you for any help choosing

There is nothing wrong with having the roof transition occur at the down slope end of a dormer. You just need to make sure that the flashing is properly designed and installed.

Thanks for your reply. I couldn't think of a problem in doing it this way, but it's good to hear it from someone who knows.
