What are the pros and cons of a painted vs. stone coated metal roof using shake panels on a roof with a 10:12 pitch?
Not being in a saltwater area (yet!) is there a benefit between the aluminum shake panels and the steel shake panels?

stone coating definitely offers better protection for the metal panels underneath, besides the stone, there are several layers of protection including an epoxy resin that seals the panel before the stone coating is applied. Plus it gives acceptional traction when walking on the roof is neccessary. Remember... you dont see asphalt manufacturers painting thier shingles do you?lol.
