I have seen special roof jacks used to provide a safe footing while installing horizontal metal panels on steep roofs. They are just regular 3-notch roof jacks for a 2x6 but they are very long. Each Jack is at least 4 ft long and is elevated above the roof deck when installed. This allows the panels to slide into position beneath the extended part of the special roof jack. Does anyone know where I can buy them ? The big advantage over regular poor jacks is that there is no need to "notch&botch" the lip of a panel. In theory I could just get some of my old roof jacks modified with a 4ft extension but would prefer to buy a purpose built professional item. The ones I saw were red but can't recall the name and my local suppliers are clueless. Any help with locating some of these super long jacks would be most useful Tony

The idea is like the "Aussie "j" bracket http://www.aussieroofing.com/jbracket.htm but it is a universal design - not just specific to one design of panel.
