I have had two roofing companies out to the house. One wants me to use asphalt shingles, the other recommends metal. We've wanted to use metal as the replacement roof. The contractor said you can lay the metal over all three layers of shingles. Is that okay? The other contractor said I have too many pitches/peaks for a metal roof. I'm so confused now I've had them come out. I just want the best roof for my money.

Installing over 3 layers may not be allowed under building codes in your area. From a practical aspect though it can often be done.
Feel free to email me pictures of your roof. [email protected]
