Rain blowing under ridge cap

About a month ago we had a really bad storm with a hard blowing wind and a LOT of rain. The wind lasted for the entire storm without letup and blew the rain under my ridge cap for the whole length of the house. Is there any thing that I can do to stop this from occuring again and still have ventilation under the ridge cap?

It depends upon the type of ridge vent you have. Most have a filter of some sort ... there is also a product called ProfileVent. Additionally, you may want to make sure you have good abalance between intake and exhaust vent as that plays a role in keeping water out of the attic. Todd Miller

Thanks for replying so quickly. I should have told you that the metal is 5v material. And also the roof is on a 4/12 pitch. The wind just kept pushing the water under the ridge cap it was blowing so hard and without letup. This may not happen again for years but I want to be ready when it does. I guess you could call it the "Perfect Storm".

It sounds like you may need what are called foam closures to keep this from happening. Or the profilevent product. Todd Miller
