The roof at our vacation home (farmhouse in the country) is a standing-seam metal roof; so far as I know, it is the original roof and has been there for decades. We're tired of painting it every few years, as the paint never works very well and it is expensive to have it done. There are also a few leaky areas.
So..... Is it possible to put a new metal roof on top of this one, that does not require re-painting? If so, what are my options in terms of manufacturers and are there any distributors in the general area near Marshall, VA?

The find a contractor section of this website will help you locate experienced contractors in your area.
Generally speaking for your application I would encourage removing the existing roof.
