Today, we are getting our new 5V metal roof installed. The Carpenter has not yet cut the ridge vent and doing so now will be difficult since the roofing material (minus the metal ridge vent) is already installed on the roof. While there is enough space at the ridge for the vent to be cut, the builder decided to drill 1 inch holes, spaced 6 inches apart, across one side of the ridge because it was easier. My question is whether or not this will be adequate ventilation. We have a continuous soffit, but I suspect that we should at least have more of the roof deck cut away for adequate ridge ventilation. Or at least holes drilled on both sides of the ridge.
We don't want problems later because of inadequate ventilation. Any opinion on what problems this could cause and what should actually be done to ensure adequate ventilation?
Thanks.

Thanks for choosing metal.
Generally, it is preferable to have more free airflow at the ridge than at the soffit.
Your ridge vent is the exhaust and the soffit vents are the intake.
My gut feeling is that the drilled holes do not provide enough free air flow.
Inadequate attic venting can lead to excessive heat and moisture build up in the attic. This hurts energy efficiency and can lead to structural problems and / or mold issues over time.
