We're gonna DIY our new metal roof over our existing shingles. There is a little overhang where the shingles meet the trim board and there is also a 1x3 board underneath this over hang. Do we need to remove the 1x3 and trim the over hang before installing the metal trim?

The answer to this is dependent upon the design of the metal roof and the trim. However, in most cases the answer will be yes. Todd Miller

Always adher to manufacturer instructions but I believe most instructions will be 1.5 - 3 inches. Todd Miller
