I have two old sheds that have galvanized standing seam roofs. There are rusty and in need of a good painting. First, do they need to be sanded before they are painted? Second, what paint/product is the best for this? TIA

I've been painting metal roofs for twenty years.
(1) It is not necessary to remove the rust from the surface.
just paint over it.
(2) Benjamin Moore's Iron Clad Alkyd paint is a good product to use as a primer. You can finish it with any number of coatings; i.e. Ben. Moore High Gloss Latex House paint.
