Hello,
Kinda silly topic, but I wanted to know if I could put down a quality underlayment over an existing plywood deck, then put down ordinary aluminum foil over the underlayment, then put down battens (if needed), then put the metal roof on top of that.
Would the aluminum foil be beneficial for reflecting heat, or would it be harmful, or would it do anything at all? Thanks for input.

This sort of reflective barrier would be helpful but if you cross batten (vertical battens and then horizontal battens before the metal roofing) and ventilate the resulting chamber, you would likely get more benefit than from the foil.
